The Dexter Scoop
Edition 3
March 2010
Spring is here! (We hope) Calves are coming
and so is our spring meeting and the AGM.
I encourage everyone who can attend the AGM to do so,
we are putting
it on next year and we need to see how it
is done and get a list of do's and dont's.
Things we need to discuss
at the spring meeting include
subjects for speakers at the AGM, theme for the AGM,
fund raising ideas, and 2010
Tulsa State Fair.
Edition 2
October 2009
The 2009 Tulsa State Fair was a grand success!
Thanks to all
that participated and those who came to support them. We
had a great turn out and lots of possitive
response from the
public and other breeders. I think we all were amazed at the
popularity of our cattle. Dexters
are hot right now. But I would
like to encourage you to be responsible breeders. Educate the people
who call and
ask about animals you have for sale. Be honest about
their quality and keep your prices at the level they should be.
We want
to give our breed the reputation of having honest, friendly, supportive
owners. I do not want to hear of
owners that are doubling their prices or
selling production quality animals as show stock. Don't let a little
popularity go to your heads!!!

Edition 1
August 2009
AGM in Oklahoma?
Yes! The 2011 AGM will be in Region 6. The location chosen is Stillwater, Ok. This is a very exciting time
for Oklahoma Dexter Owners. Between the Tulsa State Fair and the AGM we are getting loads of publicity for our breed and our
breeders.
Planning ahead for the sale at the AGM is a good idea. Some people reserve their best stock for the sale.
Prices are usually a little higher than what you would get at your farm and they want to put their best foot forward by getting
their animals in front of lots of Dexter breeders.
The more exposure your farm has the better for all of us. I encourage
everyone to attend the Tulsa State Fair, nearby state Dexter shows and the 2010 AGM. Yes it costs money but it will payoff
in the long run. I would like to see the bigger ranches get more involved. Is it really fair that the farms with the fewest
animals and least to gain, do most of the work? Folks, we are gonna need some help to put on an AGM to remember! I thank everyone
who has already volunteered to help at Tulsa and with the AGM 2011.

We need to come up with a theme for the 2011 AGM. Little Bit o' Irish? Red Dirt Dexters?
Little Cows, Big Heart? Tell me what you think.
